(1a). How does the paper by Amorim, Levy, Vacquie (referenced by VanderL in post #1987) establish that spacecrafts are subjected to Electric Discharge Machining and that cometary jets are the result of electric discharges?
(1b). If it does not, what evidence does so?

(2a). How do the papers by Sekanina et al and Brownlee et al (referenced by VanderL in post #1949) establish that the "bright spots" observed on comets are electric arcs and coincide with the sources of cometary jets?
(2b). If they do not, what evidence does so?

(3a). Where are the quantitative estimates of the charging of comets, based on the known properties of the interplanetary medium and of comets, showing that electric arcs between comets and environment do occur and are strong enough to cause jets of material and surface damage, consistent with an EDM-like effect?
(3b). If quantitative estimates were not calculated, how were EDM-like effects identified as origin of cometary jets?

(4a). How does the idea that EDM-like effects are the origin of cometary jets, account for the experimental evidence better than "mainstream" models?
(4b). If it does not, why was it brought up in response to Tim Thompson's question: Why do we need electric comets? What is it about the behavior of comets that is better answered by "electric" comets, rather than the good old standard comet theories? ?
