Really?? How does that work?

Did you perhaps mean lithium hydride (LiH)? LiH will readily generate hydrogen on reaction with water. (In fact, lithium hydroxide is the byprodict of that reaction). But lithium hydroxide, Li(OH)2 will not easily liberate H2, at least not by my (limited) knowledge of chemistry.
