I think you guys are missing the point somewhat.

I agree that the definition definitely needs to be refined in future, but part 3 of the definition reads,

By their own definition:
(3) It must reign supreme in its own orbit, having "cleared the neighborhood" of other competing bodies.

Can anyone seriously argue that any of the Earth crossing asteroids, any of the objects that cross the orbit of Jupiter, or any of the plutinos are competing bodies? Come on, there is no way in the world you could argue that point - but, I do agree that it needs to be worked out what comprises a competing body, how to define double planets, triple planets, many things - despite those future steps to take, I think the decision taken is a step in the right direction.
