The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency has launched the intelligence- gathering satellite from the Tanegashima Space Centre in Kagoshima Prefecture on the 11 September.
The H-2A No 10 rocket lifted off from Japan's space centre at 13:35 local time (04:35 GMT).
According to officials, the satellite (NORAD 29393, 2006-037A) separated successfully from the rocket.
