Movement few cm. during one year never creates such huge deformations. This is speed of only submerging movement lithosphere tiles into asthenosphere.
I think you have oceans beds map. on the north pole you can see small thin ocean lithosphere tile between huge thick continental tiles. there is not drift. During huge geocatastrophes was movement huge continental lithosphere platform and between that platforms on the red-hot surface of asthenosphere ocean was created new thin ocean lithosphere tile
look at the Madagascar. Rapid movement of Africa during geocatastrophe was reason of Madagascar formation. Between Madagascar and Africa drift is very slowly. such separation movement on the such long distance during 65 million years was impossible.
