OK so I went out last night and took 9 minutes of this thing at ISO1600 at the prime focus of an 8" SCT and I got the stars and nothing else at all. No swathes of glowing hydrogen. No horsehead-shaped cloud of dust. Absolutely, utterly nothing. So now I am even more amazed.
