That's what I'm talking about!

Since Times Square and the dropping of the ball seems to be everybody's event to key from, then it really does begin at 11 Central. We should all ring in the new year at the same time instead of having it roll across the country in stages. Either that, or each time zone needs their own ball.

What would that be like if, say Dick Clark dies within 1 hour of the ball dropping. (Entirely possible despite the multitude of plastic surgeries he has had in order to make people perceive him as "young"). Everybody in the US outside of Eastern Time would be ringing in the new year with video of a dead guy.

It oughta be illegal to portray a taped event as if it were live. Broadcast anywhere outside the Eastern Time Zone, the video from Times Square should have a big banner scrolling across the bottom continuosly reminding viewers that the footage they are watching was recorded 1, 2, or 3 hours ago.
