Yes, the fireman says it's red hot. Except that we don't see anything red hot, just smoking.
And then he guesses about the temperature being 1500 degrees and off the video goes using that number. 'But jet fuel burns at no more than 825 yadayada'. I submit that he was simply wrong in his guess. Hot, yes, because it'd been covered up and smoldering until they dug whatever it is out. But they don't show anything being molten.

I did enjoy the clip from that skyone show where they were playing with thermite. It's almost worth watching that part of the video for that.
