Default BAUT hanging?

Has anyone else noticed today that the forum is frequently hanging for over 10 seconds at a time? It seems to keep getting stuck 'waiting for www.google-analytics.com...' which I'm guessing is to do with the ads.

I have that problem on a lot of boards lately. I think it does have something to do with the ads not playing nice with pop-up/down/behind blockers.

At least on Firefox. Haven't tried it on Explorer. Probably not going to try it either

Yep, I had the same problem here and on another site with google-ads today. Seems to be solved for the moment though (also running Firefox).

Same with me (Netscape 7.2). Isn't Google supposed to save you time?

Darn. I thought this thread would be about an exciting new form of punishment, something beyond banning, for those who would violate the BAUT rules.

That is very inappropriate
Given that is an astronomy group, it would be more appropriate to toss them out an airlock.

Lol! I didn't think about the title that much
Well it seems it's not just me but it's probably affecting some more than others. I tried IE (eww!) but it paused just as much, only without the google message... but then I havn't used anything other than Firefox for a while so I don't know if thats normal or not
I did try turning off all the ad blocking but it never made any difference, if anything it has got worse & still is ie the pauses are more frequent & for longer
Google-analytics.com doesn't even seem to exist as a website though google/analytics does.
Oh well, I'm hoping it's fixed by tomorrow because its getting pretty unusable now.

We are considering tossing them out the airlock with a noose around their necks. It's win win really.

I have a theory that it's a chunk of Google code that's causing all the delays. I'm going to try and fix it in a few hours.

But we've only got 20 minutes captain. After that we'll be sucked into our screens by the increasing gravity and squashed flat. It sucks that bad. And then the sub neutron rectifiers will overload, flooding the ion induction valves, and then who knows...

Okay, I removed that Google code. Let me know if it fixes the problem for everyone.

Just tried to visit the forum. Nothing happened. Then after about ten minutes I got a message "The page contains no data"! This with Firefox running under SuSE Linux 9.2. Must be interference from an extra-terestrial agency!!

Thanks for taking a look Fraser.
I've given it about 3 hours so far today. Initially it seemed much improved. I noticed it seemed only to be timing out with this non-existent Google-analytics site when refreshing the main, high level page. However it seems to be slowly getting worse again. Its trying to access it when entering individual threads now. I've tried rebooting, clearing cache history but to no avail.
Just to clarify, this only started yesterday, it's normally pretty quick otherwise (& I spend far too much time here)

The forum does its backup around 3 in the morning, so if you show up then it's going to just drag. That only lasts about 10 minutes, though.

Ref the above 'hanging'.
Never had a problem. One thing occurs to me about this, my OS is
Windows 98 SE. Could it be that this prob is particular to XP users?
Interesting,
Nokton.

You poor spoiled DSL users. Waiting 10 seconds for a page to load is normal on dial up!

Er . . . three in whose morning? Ours? The Australians'? (Of course, they've got more than one time zone, too.)

Whatever you did, the site seems to load very fast now. No slowdowns found so far.
We like that
