Default BAUT Forum is slow today

The BAUT Forum is extremely slow today, been getting worse over the last hour or two.

It's so slow, I didn't want to wait 10 minutes for search results to see if there's another "slow" topic going.

What's up? Another slashdotting? The BA Blog: 55 Cancri 5-planet system? Some other hot news? Or is something just hosed?

I see Universe Today is not responding except for:

Quote:
Do you want to save this file or find a program online to open it?

Filename: universetoday_com
Type: Unknown file type
From: www.universetoday.com
Time to hit submit... and go out for lunch.

Edit: I fixed it! No. I don't know. It took a few minutes to submit this article, but suddenly everything is pretty responsive.

Edit: If it could help... I tried downloading that file offered up by UT, and it appears just to be the .gz-compressed version of the UT home page. Something's not decompressing it before serving it up.

It seems to have cleared up now.

I checked both slashdot and digg but didn't see anything from the BA on there. Must have been a server issue.

I did something that misconfigured my server today, which was why people were getting that strange message. Is Universe Today working again? It's working for me, but I can't tell if it's working for everyone.

See it, about the 55 Cancri system, with a 'Cool' label:

It's so slow. I normally compose myself in these situations but this is getting annoying as heck. It just took me 5 minutes to post a thread and 5 more to report a double post. Please do something about it. I suppose with the increased traffic and more revenues from Google Ads, BAUT can have a better server, no?

Heck, I think I'll take a break from these forums for exactly 10 days, starting from now. I hope things will be better when I return.

just testing to see how long it would take for this to get posted.

EDIT: Less than a second. Good. Well I guess things are getting better now. So I hereby postpone my 10 day break (at least while everything goes smoothly).

I could stop anytime I want for as long as I want.

First, you have to want to quit. I don't wanna.

Are we under attack this morning (EST)?
It's slow, and I'm getting about a 33% time-out rate.

Some members are slow, but some are pretty smart. It's not right to judge the entire board by the slowness of a few members.
