Default Problems with new server?

Since the Forum has moved to the new server I experience problems. Slow page built up. Sometimes "time outs" (= page not found after trying to load for minutes).
Even if I am already logged in into the board and just want to change a thread.

I tried other pages I visit frequently, and do not experience these problems.
But that might be a coincidence. It might be a local problem I do not know.

Does anybody else report such problems?

The build up is not the problem, the response time of the server is. It takes longer until the server starts sending the requested data. As soon as it does, the build up is fast. But until it does...

I notice that you're both in Germany. I just tested a tool and it said that the response time from Germany is about 1.5 seconds, which is pretty slow. It seems even slower from Australia.

On the other hand, it's extremely fast from North America.

I'll pass this along to my webhost and see if they know what's going on.

Can anyone confirm that they're seeing a really slow server? Or it's taking a really long time to connect. Is it happening the first time, and then it's really speedy when you go to different pages? How long are you waiting for it to load? Are you having the same problem with Universe Today and Bad Astronomy?

For me, located a mere 200 km from the server, it's insanely fast. But there might be an infrastructure problem somewhere that I'll need to bring to the attention of the hosting company.

That description is consistent with having reverse dns lookup enabled for logging, first an initial delay while the ip number is resolved, then fast while it's the cached value that's used.
You might want to check that that isn't the cause.

I don't know if anything has been changed, but the problem seems to be gone.

I'm having problems posting for some reason. I keep getting a "connection closed by remote server" error message when I try to start a new thread.

Same here...
The server now responds in no time.

It sounds like a temporary problem with some part of the Internet in between you and the server. The worst kind of problem to try and diagnose.
