I notice in my profile there is a mention of public groups. I have always wondered about that and so what are public groups, is there a list of them or a way to start one?

Searching bautforum returns various peoples profiles and the line that says they are not members of any public groups but i didn't find the answer to my question.

I'd take it that there are no public groups.

There are non-public groups, and non-public areas, you cannot see: like the moderator team.

Public groups, if they exist, are groups anyone can join. You could do so from that same profile window that lists your group membership.
