A few years ago, I noticed a FACE in my friend's sock!! Luckily, I had a camera at the time (Which was a pretty rare occurrence in my Undergrad days). I snapped a picture of it, and here it IS:



OBVIOUSLY THE FACE OF... JESUS! Or, maybe Moses... or maybe one of those Amish dudes that drive the horse & buggies around the Midwest... YOU DECIDE!

It looks like a picture of a Disney animated prince character to me.

There's actually a simple answer: pareidolia.

It can occur in space too. Such as the Witch's Head Nebula.

Witch's Head Nebula?

Looks more like the Marlboro Man using his asthma inhaler while riding on Dino the Flintstones dinosaur.

That's what you see when you're too close to your screen. If you back away a bit you'll see the head shape. Sort of like this painting by Salvador Dali. Up close its a room with curtains, paintings and a little couch...but back away and you have Mae West. :wink:

My desktop background is the Carina Nebula, with the middle finger! I didn't notice it until much later. Funny stuff.

We gets lots of people claiming to see objects in pictures? As soon as I read the OP I was going to suggest transferring this thread to the Mars Forum!

OK, I should have put "OT" in the subject [-X , but it was the face in the shower curtain that inspired me.

It's all just an example of Pareidolia, like Wolverine said. I personally consider it a GREAT example.



p.s. the Witch's Head Nebula looks like she's toking up, to me...

That single eye makes it look like Turanga Leela's dad. There's the astronomy connection. :wink:
