Mendel,

HUb' is sort of an institution here.

If you think his posts are "strange" now, you should have been here "back in the day"!

It is sort of a "badge of honor" or maybe a "right of passage" to reach the point of being able to translate "HUbese!

Absolutely,

to be honset, I have not yet achieved that zen like state wherein I can read a HUb' post in its entirety and understand all that is going on.

HUb' is also making things a little easier these days.... I still strive to gain enlightenment.

Reguardless of him being an institution it is well within his grasp to communicate in a manner which does NOT require a reader to have to learn his syntax and grammer. To not do so is rather rude.

And no, I don't think of it as cute or acceptable. Clear communication is the cornerstone of human interaction and to purposfully use such smoke and mirrors to force the reader to learn his "language" is ego on his part and only a merit to those who allow such childish behavior acceptable.

If this is seen as an attack, so be it. I will accept that there are people who will have difficulty with language, those to whom the language used in a forum is a second or third language. But this is gibberish and done to make his views seem more technically sound than they are, if one is able to decipher them at all.

And "right of passage" and "badge of honor" are things gained as a mark of real accomplishment, not in learning to read the self insulating posts of someone who is obviously intelligent but chooses to play games rather than communicate clearly.

I, sir, do speak only for myself and will not continue with this thread further as I obviously neither get the joke nor should express my thoughts on the matter unless I am willing to become part of it - or the butt of it.

So be it.

Meanwhile the service

is not affected, and those who served remain committed to your liberty to speak what you think.

Perhaps it would not be wise to assume that Hub is the only one here who has served.

For the life of me, I do not understand why people who ask an innocent question about Hub get vilified. We wouldn't require research if it was a newbie acting the way Hub does, so I don't think he should get a free pass.

People could just answer Bounced Check's question without jumping down his throat. He is every bit as valuable a poster as Hub, maybe more so, since I can understand what he is saying.

HUb' was not only in the navy, he was an eye witness to (at least one of) the H-bomb tests in the South Pacific.

Nowhere in the FAQ is there a requirement that HUb' (or anybody else, for that matter) post in such a manner that everybody can understand the post.

If you don't like, or cannot understand what HUb' writes, you are free not to read his posts!

If HUb' passes muster with the BA, it is good enough for me.

I posted this on FWIS- just my 2cents

I understand almost perfectly and have talked a couple of times to him on msn.

each colour represents a computer at his school(I think hes taking a science class) Candy is the person to talk to about HUb' btw.

He seems to follow a complex set of rules and most of the gibberish is him following those rules.

Or else he is trying to make a chart etc... but does a pretty bad job of it... I have done the same on BABB and elsewhere and it only makes sence to me, I think HUb' is unaware of this or is unable to do much about it.

He had a hard time on the internet(and real life) until finding BABB, where people mostly accepted him.

HUb' has his own forum and alot of his posts on BABB and "the tom somthing[newman I think] memoreal"- I'm yet to find out what that means....

I'm not docter, but from personal experiences I think HUb' may be on the autistic spectrem. But there is little to go by.

I don't think metioning that HUb' served in the navy or any other comments on FWIS were ment to be hostile- just tidbits of infomation that we knew.I understand almost perfectly and have talked a couple of times to him on msn.

What does 'being in the service' have to do with anything?
Why do people always pull this?
I agree with Sci-Fi, I just tend to ignore Hub bosts.

Yeah, the Tom Newman Memorial. I was googling around one time, and I got the impression that Tom Newman is (or was) the name of an anthropology professor at HUb's school.

Hi,

I hope no one thought I had jumped down Bounced Check's throat.

I certainly meant no offence.

That interpretation would be highly irrational, considering that Bounced Check had not even posted to the thread when you responded.

There appears to be some confusion going on. It was Mendel who posted the following:

I'm just too lazy to do anything like that or even to properly understand what you're saying with your code but I hope you take no offence when I say that I think, in the end you're about as lost about this whole planet x debacle as I am.

But I can't help but ask, can you talk...eh...write a bit more normally? Like how would you write if you would be writing something simple to your friend...or to someone you don't know but want to communicate to. Like... maybe put on the "human writing mode" and off with the ascii character basic code color writing mode? Just for one short message maybe and then back to whatever if it amuses you I'm just curious if you can be bothered to do that, don't get mad at me

I'm sorry. I've read a couple of different threads regarding the subject of Hub, and I mixed them up in my mind. I should have said that I don't think every person who doesn't understand Hub's posting style and gets curious or frustrated by it should be treated badly.
