Is this (Warning: obnoxious language) the nonsense you're talking about? Apparently, he's still ranting away. Anyone ever figure out exactly *what* his issue actually *is*?

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I assumed everyone has already seen it. It's one of the better known woowoos. I don't think he's still raging away is he? I don't think he's updated that site in a while. It still looks the same as it did when I first saw it years and years ago.

Don't worry Gullible. That's all the paragraphs there are. They just keep repeating. I'm only being a little bit facetious, honest.

The only thing I got out of about 1/5th of it is this: Opposites Create. Which is true about opposite genders.

My eyes, the nonsense burns my eyes like acid!!

That's what happens when you evolve to have two eyes, they end up cancelling each other out and the universe ceases to exist.

Time cube is my favourite nutbag. I like the way you can almost make snese of his theory for the first few paragrpahs and then it all goes completely bonkers! The sheer size of the information on his site is amazing and rather scary.

Time cube is evil!

I think the gist of his argument, at least the "cubic" part, is that if you take four equidistant points around the globe over the course of a single rotation of the earth, they each have their own 24 hour cycle, which adds up to four days in one rotation of the earth.

Of course, that would work with any number of subdivisions and the whole idea is so silly it has to be a hoax, but any conspiracy theory that holds up to more than 5 seconds of thought isn't worth the huge red letters it's printed in.

Back when I was in grad school our department used to get letters from a similar-type nutbag. Only he didn't have a web site. He would send us dozens of pages of graph paper, written in pencil on both sides in the tiniest print, full of greek letters redefined to mean who knows what and used as illustrative equations to suggest a variety of ideas, mostly about how gravity was a hoax and regular science was covering up that knowledge from all but the elite. To this day I have no idea what point he was hoping to make and I'm so glad he never called us...

I had my own theories about the TimeCube guy that I posted in an old thread.

There's a detailed article about TimeCube on Wikipedia.

Quote:
Although Ray is generally viewed—albeit fondly—as a crank, he claims "many thousands" believe that he is really communicating the "Ineffable Cubic Truth of the Universe" and that he is a great thinker and wise. As yet, there is no registered organization with an official membership list of Time Cube followers; however, a following has nonetheless presented itself through less formal avenues, including this online petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/TimeCube/petition.html) demanding representation of the Time Cube doctrine in academic and social institutions.
Whoa.

Maybe we could throw TimeCube to the creationists and let them chew on that for awhile and leave the rest of us to learn and do some actual science.

Whoa.
Ya know why there are no ET's visiting us... because they get to our stage of development, the web (or its equivalent) allows all the crazyness to become mainstream, and...

that's it...

lights out...

I'm definitely feeling cynical...

I'm not sure which is weirder, the time cube theory, or the fact that someone has gone out of their way to analysis the theories scientific validity.

What's weirder? How about someone wasting time they'll never get back Googling 'time cube'...

...lessee here...there's ol' Gene Ray his own self (nice little 'ray' of sunshine, ain't he?) at The Official Time Cube Website...

And then there's one way to tell time (yeah, it ain't a cube, but go with me, I'm on a roll here...)...

And of course, if you want to play a card game based on TimeCube philosophies...

Want your own computer desktop Time Cube clock? (It's in zip form, yes I scanned it for viruses, no I didn't find any, yes it runs in a DOS emulator mode in WinXP Pro, no I haven't the foggiest notion of how to read it...)

Of course, there's the Percentage-Of-Day Metric Clock (whaddaya mean, it's 73.91 o'clock?) -- at least this one makes some sense...

There are desk clocks that read out in binary (ready to go or kits...this'n will drive 'em nutz...)

ThinkGeek's got binary clocks with lights, binary clocks with dials and hands, and binary LED watches, round ones for everyday and stylish square ones for that formal occasion.

But wouldn't you know it? The One, The Original, Radio Shack Time Cube Radio, a 3-channel crystal controlled WWV receiver, the one that generations of astronomers and road rallyists set their watches to...is out of production, and I can't find a picture of one...sigh...

I remember it well. In the late 1980's the University of Oklahoma's observatory also had some radio equipment (with vacuum tubes!) but I don't know whether it was still functional since we had the cube which could be used inside the dome. Sad that the cube is gone.
