Fresh from her grossly inaccurate and poorly researched article about the Moon Hoax, Lisa Guliani is back from Babel magazine, and this time she has set her sights on Planet X.

She has written to none other than Mark Hazlewood. For those unaware of this gentleman, I suggest you read about him here. Let's just say we're not big fans of each other.

Mr. Hazlewood has posted a letter she sent to him on his listserv. I don't know if you can read the posts without joining his group, but the article is here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/planetx2003/message/269.

She claims she posted a Planet X question here at the BABB, but it was deleted. I do not recall deleting any posts recently; I have locked a few (in the Lunar Conspiracies forum) but I honestly don't think I have deleted any. The only posts I delete are rude ones, and that's pretty rare.

Is she being disingenuous? Maybe. I doubt Mr. Hazlewood has fabricated this letter on his group. I really don't think he would make up a letter by someone who actually exists and put their name on it. So it seems clear she really did email the note to him. Perhaps she posted a thread and the software screwed up again. It's happened before, but not often. What are the odds it would happen to her, on this one topic?

Now, a note to the readers here: once again, I am asking you to remain polite if you email her. I am not excouraging you to email her, but I know some of you will, as you did last time we had a run-in with her. I cannot control what you do (despite what she seems to think) but I will reiterate what I said before: when you mention this board in emails, you implicate me in your letters by default. So please do not resort to name-calling or the like if/when you send notes to her. Just point out where she is wrong and be done with it. Remember, she won't post your comments unless they align with her goals (for example, if you call her a name, she'd be more likely to post that (to make you look bad) than if you politely show her her mistakes).

I think we learned from the Moon Hoax garbage that what you write to her is unlikely to see light of day at Babel, and no one else will see it. It won't do any good. She has her mind made up about such things, and you won't convince her otherwise.

I wonder if Babel will post a follow-up come next May when nothing happens. I am no psychic, but I can predict that future.

Tried it. Looks like you have to join the group to read it.

Perhaps if she tried to post and got blocked by the 'log in again' quirks, she then assumed you had a conspiracy set up to keep her off your BB.

Has she joined the board? I don't remember seeing her listed as a member. Maybe she tried to post as a "guest".

In the email, she says she posted under a different name.

I did find this. Maybe that's what she's talking about.

I have deleted the two threads started by Victor Thorn, since they were clear violations of the FAQ. I am loathe to do such things, since dissenting opinions are critical to free thought. But such rude and childish behavior will not be tolerated.

Ah, you are absolutely correct. I had forgotten all about those. They were childish "nyah nyah" posts. Perhaps those are what she means...

From Lisa's message:

As for the disinfo, the hell with them. They have to become louder and more vocal to try and drown out what you're saying. They can't.

As a matter of fact, I went on the Bad Astronomy message board the other day under a different name, (they hate me over there because of my lunar conspiracy pieces and because I interviewed you...) and asked them a question about Planet "X" and if NASA was lying or telling the truth. They deleted my message straightaway. Now, that is NOT like them at all.

Normally, they circle around like sharks waiting to feed, and rip the person apart and dissect the question, etc...They did nothing. Silence. I am thinking I will go in and try it again.

Hahahaha...

She goes on to say we "ruined her birthday" with all the "hate email" following her moon hoax article.

So, maybe she was "Victor Thorn." But, BA explained why those threads were deleted. And there are several current threads on Planet X.

Also, IIRC, there were several responses to both "VC" threads, not "silence."

Okay, maybe a bit of a feeding frenzy by the "sharks" at the BABB. But, hey, if you're gonna chum the waters...

Maybe she will try again.

Dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-badda-daaaah!

"Victor Thorn" only talked about "chem trails" and alleged abuse on the Babel board from a BABB member. I don't recall any mention of Planet X.
It's been my experience that there's plenty of controversial topics discussed on here. There'd be no reason to delete a topic about Planet X just because the poster believes in Planet X.

I just love the shark thing Jim. Chumming is a very good analogy.

Lots of people perceive reality differently than the rest of us. Denial is a common but hard to comprehend mental defense our minds use from time to time. In order to go on believing you are not crazy or dumb or worse, you have to attack rational responses with irrational ones.

Strange. Other than claiming there was silence, her statement almost sounds like this post:

That's it exactly. I believe I moved it from an incorrect forum to this one. I replied to it 10 minutes after it was posted!

She must've not realized it was simply moved and thought it was deleted instead - maybe?

So, does someone want to e-mail her and let her know what happened?

Actually, the reason I know of this is that she emailed me in the first place saying I had deleted it.

Remember, if you email her, BE POLITE. Please.

Could just put a message on the Yahoo BB.

I don't generally share email particulars in public. But I will say that she thought it was deleted; I told her I believe I moved it to a different forum, and she has not emailed me back yet.

I know when I first posted to the wrong place, somewhere you mentioned it, I think in a reply to the post after putting it in the correct forum. I wonder if the above post saying her message had been deleted comes from conscious fabrication because it sounds better to her or whether she has a bit of selective memory and believes it was deleted. I don't think we will ever know.

Unfortunately, there is pretty much no way to correct the impression Lisa gives on the Yahoo Planet X group. It's an "only the moderator can post" forum, so anything you send has to go through him.

BTW, there are 710 members of that group (including (sigh) me) but 2,523 members of the BA group!

Have a care here. Claiming numbers doesn't have much meaning; for one, my newsletter has been around longer. Also, pseudoscience almost always attracts more people than reality does. I am quite sure that by, say, October, he'll have more people on his group than I do.

True, but then again, we could always Borrow a page from his Book. If Each of us Tells someone about this Site This Month, and they Each Tell someone Else Next Month, We could have 7,569 Members by October!

Okay, it'll Never happen, but chu know what They Say, "Shoot for The Stars, because eventually, you'll get Lucky!"

While I wish the majority of humans weren't so gullible, I for one am happy to be in the minority as long as we have to be stuck with the current ratio.

Remember the saga of "John McCartney", the janitor fired from his job, and his mother who complained that we were to blame? Amazingly, the email address used for BABB registration for "Mr. McCartney" is the same as for "Kim Malloy". That's right: Lisa Guliani was behind those posts. So much for the voice of reason at Babel, eh?

Doh! I should've recogonized that low sense of humor (sarcasm = humor). As one of the pun lovin' folk, I know low humor.

Golly, and I was feeling sorry for the poor guy, thinkin' he was sufferin' from schitzophrenia or something.

I can understand the Kim Malloy post as her throwing out a challenge, but what was that John McCartney thing all about anyway? I have a feeling she was trying to pull something specific, but I don't know what. Any ideas, or does it matter? Or should we be on the lookout for some more weird stuff?

What's Joe's email address?

(For that matter, what was P*p*r's email address? This is going to make us paranoid, lol)
