I checked it out, using "Mathematica" from http://www.wolfram.com to do the calculations. The results are broadly correct, even if Planet X's periapsis is 1 AU or thereabouts; my code does not require a straight-line path into the Sun.

Also, I can calculate Planet X's position relative to the Earth's, assuming some relative orbit orientation.
