From May 10-12, 1999 was the Day the Solar Wind Disappeared. Are we able to rule in, or rule out, any of the following explanations:
  • 1. Solar fusion stopped!
  • 2. The Sun just stopped emitting the Solar Wind.
  • 3. The Sun just stopped emitting the Solar Wind, but only in the direction of NASA's ACE and Wind spacecraft
  • 4. NASA's ACE and Wind spacecraft both malfunctioned
  • 5. Something got in the way of NASA's ACE and Wind spacecraft
  • 6. Something "blew" the Solar Wind away from NASA's ACE and Wind spacecraft which did not affect the Earth's magnetosphere
  • 7. Something "enveloped" (affected) the entire Solar Wind
  • 8. The Solar Wind is generated by some other mechanism
  • 9. Scientists misinterpretted the data
  • 10. The whole thing is a hoax
Can we rule out or add and more explanations? I would think we can rule out 1, 4, 5, 9 and 10.

Regards,
Ian Tresman
