Hello Captain Swoop,
Hello Gilli, The occurrence of the auroras is associated with the precipitation of the charged particles (almost from magnetospheric origin rather than from the solar wind) on the ionosphere, and with the ionospheric electric currents. Regarding the precipitation of the charged particles on the ionosphere, usually, it is by the day greater than by the night. Regarding the ionospheric electric currents, they are in the daytime side of the ionosphere greatly more intense than in the nightside ionosphere. Moreover, the solar x-rays and solar UV are almost always available during the day. These solar invisible spectra are the main factor in driving the ionization of the ionosphere that is needed to enhance the electic currents, and to intensify the ionic contents of the ionosphere. These last two agents are necessary for auroral occurrence. |

but why not? u can't just say it isn't when all the evidence says it is!! Well, u can say it but without evidence why should we care?

Regarding Rayleigh scattering: in previous posts you did not exclude it entirely. Are you doing so now?

Yes you are right that I did not exclude Rayleigh scattering entirely. I consider that the main contribution to sky blue coler comes from the blue color of ozone.

And you haven't explained why our physics based models of atmospheric radiative transfer fail, even though thery don't assume that the dominant source of "blue" is ozone.
