Default Just a thought from someone new to this whole thing

I've only been recently introduced to the whole Zeta-talk thing, yeah, I was the Blake that posted on sci.astro if anyones curious. Anyway, its amazing that a friend of mine is dead set on believing that Planet X is for real, or all the other Zetans for that matter. The thing is, I'm really glad that he told me about it, even though it worried me at first. You see this whole hysteria started with misinformation on the internet, and I'm just really glad that rational people like me, can find other sites on the internet that actually use facts, to totally disprove the hysteria. I'm really glad that we all get to witness all the Zetans realize that they've been lied to, and that its all malarky, I can't wait to read everyones posts about seeing the sunset, on time, this evening. Much thanks to everyone here, and lets all have fun the next few days watching this!
Blake

I too had a friend that told me about it and I was worried for about 5 minutes. Think about crazy stuff like this logically and it's impossible! My friend is now of course saying he never believed it .

I wouldn't mind if PX showed up and made the days a little longer. Seems I never have enough time... Wasn't it Lois Bujold (SF author) who said that her favourite planets always had longer days?

It'd bugger up all the telescopes though - nothing like a change of the length of the sidereal day to throw a spanner into your carefully tuned synchronization rigs.

I don't even own a telescope Only one shop here that has them, and it's only open during my working hours. :x

I guess I could build one on my own, but I'm lazy.

Hi! This is my first time posting here after being a visitor to Bad Astronomy for well over a year. Why am I suddenly posting here? You guessed it. I couldn't think of a better group to start watching ZetaTalk and the Planet X doomsday theory implode in a flaming trainwreck of mockery.

Just for the record, today was a perfectly clear, cloudless day, nothing in the sky, sun came up at the right time and went down at the right time. 8)

Astrosmurf - well you sure sound knowledgable anyway.
We got ours off ebay. People upgrade their telescopes and you get a good un for a good price. Do you have an ebay equivalent in Sweden?

There was one place, but it went the way of the dinos fairly early in the dot-com death. There are a couple of used-stuff papers (dead-tree version) but I'm a bit reluctant to buy scopes that way - I don't know the brands well enough to know what to look for, and I guess most would be department-store quality.
