It looks like a smudge or data error to me. It's not in the previous picture and I bet it wont be in the next pictuer. If it's something that's only in one picture, it's either an error or it's something that has move out of that field of view.

PS: I've seen to many Star Trek epsodes, it looks a little like the Enterprise to me

I would say:

- Stars are Pleiades
- Black bar is the data "shadow" caused by the arm that holds the disk that blocks the direct sunlight. The dark area in the corona opposite that bar is simply a coincidental gap in the corona.
- The circular object is not an object but a data glitch. SOHO pictures have them a lot...it's just part of the process.

Agreed....

You gotta remember this thing points at the Sun. It's a fantastic piece of equipment that can make these observations, but it sure as heck ain't perfect... And besides, things that people harp onto as 'anomolies' look totally different from any of the 'normal' data that comes from the instrument as to look totally fake anyway... It's blindingly obvious that whatever has caused such things are not based in the physical.

Ok skywatcher, you've gotten 4 people to agree with your assessment. I think it's time to
OFFICIALLY DECLARE that skywatcher is an honorary Amateur Astronomer!

Yea, that is an error in the picture... the conspiracy theorists would have you believe it was a cut-n-paste job to hide something... but the Government would be a little more adept at convincing you if it was
