What about new dwarf planets being discovered? Are they rapidly altering our destinies even as we speak?

No, it's called properly directed intelligence, logic, reason, and application of the scientific method.

The first post from Robert Tulip was sufficiently different from the topic in the original thread that it and two subsequent posts have been split to this thread.

Cyber3d, are you introducing evidence or information that was not covered in that previous thread on astrology? If so, do you intend to discuss and defend it?

(I have moved this paragraph back from the planet and rain topic as it relates to this post.)
I am familiar with the astro.com site in the OP. I do not think there is much in the specific link that will be of interest to astronomers, because it is oriented towards use of astrological assumptions whose epistemic status remains dubious, and there seems to be little genuine desire among the astrologers to explore the statistical merits and foundation of their claims. Astro.com has a very active forum section in which all the posts assume the validity of astrology as a self-sufficient alternative system. My attitude, as some may recall, is that I find astrology scientifically possible, even persuasive. However, planetary effects are very weak and astrologers have severely damaged their credibility by making claims that are over-inflated, denying that these claims are in principle testable, and relying on spurious magical intuition. I remain sympathetic to astrology despite the paucity of systematic evidence beyond the Gauquelin results because I believe the complexity of astrological patterns is so great, and the energies are so weak, that very large data sets would be needed to prove real effects. |

Since the Original Poster, cyber3d, has not posted anything to this thread in over a week, I see no reason to keep it open. If anyone has anything new to add, they can PM me or another Mod.
