Van Flandern is well-known anti-relativity BA - which stands for Bonehead Astronomer in this case.

Here's a link to Salon.com article on this. For an article meant for the masses, its surprisingly unbiased.

Actually, the author of that page, Tom van Flandern, made many importnat contributions to astronomy. You may not be surprised to know that I, um, disagree strongly with a lot of his work nowadays though.

I saw him give a talk at an astronomy symposium claiming the Face on mars was built by aliens. Yikes.

Interesting article. I still remember that the General Relativity calculation of the advance of the perihelion of Mercury was very much a "Wow!" moment for me in my GR course at University. Could just about follow the maths then, wouldn't have a hope now!
