Default The Graviton Matrix Theory (Theory of Everything)

On the time thread started by hush36, he said something very profound: "What if there was another conveyor of energy, similar to electromagnetic radiation, but one that "travels" (again, to stay simple) solely through the Time dimension?"

And that, my friends, begat the following Theory of Everything. I'll lay out the axioms, then expand on each throughout the thread over the next couple of days. I would like to revise this post, slightly, and within reason, as I lay this out, in order to provide a ready reference for both myself and others.

Note: In keeping with the rules of the board, if you must comment, ok, but I'd prefer a PM until I've finished with the 10 so that it does muddy up the original 10. - Thanks, and I appreciate your understanding that TOE goes beyond GUT, so this could take a while... In the first edit, I'll begin adding Wiki lengths at the bottom.

1. Photons are massless particles travelling at the speed of light. They go the distance without the time (in their time frame).

2. Gravitons are nearly massless quantum particles travelling at 0 c. The go nowhere in infinate time. Thus, they do not travel and they're always being created and destroyed. This will become later as we discuss acceleration vs gravity (within the framework of this thread), and I'll show how this matches with relativity's time dilation, length contraction, and red-shifting.

3. The distance between any two gravitons is always Plank length (tetrahedran - picture a stack of cannonballs). Each graviton touches the next. Thus, they're always as densely packed as they can be. This will become important later as it relates to the interaction between matter and gravitons, event horizons of black holes as well as "the void."

4. Gravitons exist only for Plank time (that'll become important later as we get into the indeterminate states of matter at the quantum level. This will also be related to how they interact with photons and why c is c.

5. Because of their Plankian nature, I'll formally call them "Plank Gravitons," but keep it to just "gravitons" for expediency.

6. Gravitons do not travel through space-time. Rather, they are, in fact, the very fabric of space-time. Tug on one, it tugs on the next one, and so on. And because of their Plankian dimensions, they effect anything and eveything existing or moving through them. This will become important later when I discuss how gravity actually works.

7. As the very fabric of space-time, they set the clock. This will become important later when I discuss time dilation with respect to both velocity as well as the presense of matter "gravity well."

8. The presence of matter warps the graviton matrix. Because of the Pauli exclusion principle, gravitons aren't attracted to matter, but rather, repulsed by it.

9. Gravitons are our "dark matter." They have the same mass as neutrinos. Neutrinos aren't a special case. But gravitons are a "lowest priority" particle, so low, that they're the first to go if anything else, including photons, attempts to occupy their space. This will become important later in special and general relativistic concepts.

10. We'll discuss the geometry of the graviton matrix and how it relates to quantum mechanics, the strong force, the weak force, the electric force, and the magnetic force, for the graviton interacts with each, and will explain how each of those forces can "magically" cause action at a distance, particularly the electric and magnetic forces, but also including "spooky action at a distance," and how the wavefront of light can apparently exceed the speed of light.

Tall order, but it's time to get busy.

Default 1. Photons - go the distance in no time.

Photons are massless particles travelling at the speed of light. Because of length contraction, a single photon is literally nothing more than an infinately thin wavefront. Because of time dilation, time for a photon literally stops. It's one of the reasons photons can go on forever.

Because they're massless, they are the embodiment of pure energy. As they travel through the graviton matrix, they're affected by the matrix in strange ways, including red shifting, refraction, and relativistic effects. It's because of the graviton matrix that they appear to exhibit wavelike phenomena, such as refraction and wave interference.

But they're not waves; nor are they particles. That's where the confusion has been for so long.

Rather, they're simply a small packets of pure energy, frozen in time, each of which exists at it's own unique, but sharply defined, quantum level. Taken together, they can appear to have any particular frequency, but taken singly, they exist only at a precise quantum energy state.

This becomes important later when we get into how photons appear to be travelling at c to all observers at all velocities of c, regardless of the relative velocity of the photons' source.

More detail:

The photon is the guage boson of the boson family of elementary particles. It has no electric charge, can exist at two possible polarization states, and posseses a wave vector (which determines it's wavelength (function of it's energy state) and direction of travel). Interestingly, although it doesn't have mass, it does have the ability to impart momentum. This is due to the fact that it is energy and the graviton matrix, which I'll explain later.

Photons can be created by several processes. The simplest is when an electron of an excited atom drops to a lower orbital, releasing a photon. You see this as the deep red coming from the burner of your stove (or blue, if you're using gas).

When photons are absorbed by matter, they in turn excite the electron according to it's perceived energy state, and this is where relativity comes in, as the velocity between the emitter and the receiver is what determines it's perceived level of energy.

That's enough on the photon. Again, this thread is primarily about gravitons, so I'm not going to reinvent (or restate) the wheel talking about Bose-Einstein statistics, Fock states, etc. (although bosonic algebra does play a role in the graviton matrix with respect to how forces such as weak, strong, electric, and magnetic are communicated over distances).

Default 2. Gravitons

"Gravitons are nearly massless quantum particles travelling at 0 c."

That's somewhat of a misnomer, as they don't travel at all. Yet they're constantly being created and destroyed, every unit of Plank time, which is 5.39121e-44 seconds.

The interesting thing about this unit of time is that it's the smallest divisible unit of time. Nothing, down to the smallest unit of of matter, or the smallest energy, does anything in any duration of time smaller than Plank time.

Furthermore, the furthest distance anything can go in Plank time is the Plank length, which is 1.6e-35 meters. And the only unit of matter that can go Plank time in Plank length is the photon, which, coincidentally, happens to be the only "particle" that's the same for both matter and antimatter. This becomes important later. But as I mentioned before, the photon is neither a particle nor a wave (although exhibiting characteristics of both). Rather, it's a quantum packet of pure energy frozen in time.

Moreover, it's equivalent to any of the subatomic forces binding nucleons, but in released form. Depending upon which of those forces is released, and from where, will determine the quantum level of the photon.

These forces include:

1. The strong force binding quarks and gluons

2. The weak force affecting all left-handed leptons and quarks

3. The electric field surrounding charges, and when moved, can create magnetic fields

4. The magnetic field which is created by moving charges (electric fields)

And truth be told, the electric and magnetic forces are really flip sides of the same thing, which was realized long ago, and the two were brought together into one under electromagnetism. But the magnetism part isn't what's important. What's important are the electric fields, and whether they at rest with respect to one another, or whether they're moving.

Back to gravitons for a moment...

As it turns out, gravity isn't actually a force at all. Rather, it's a phenomenon due to the interaction between all the other forces and gravitons.

The gravitons do not actually exert any force at all. Rather, because they're the fabric of space-time itself, and because of an action similar to the Pauli exclusion principle, but instead of just fermions, it acts on quarks, guons, neutrinos, and photons. For lack of a better term, I'll call it the Gravitometric exclusion principle, or GEP.

At this point, it sounds to the experienced reader that gravitons sound very much like spin foam, but it's not. It's similar in concept, but there's a key difference which I'll get into in a minute. Nor is it a Feynman diagram, although Feynman diagrams are very good at calculating scattering cross sections in particle physics.

Rather, gravitons exist in the most dense structure (currently theorized as stacked tetrahedrons). However, there may be structures which are either equally dense, or which exist to allow for the various states of quarks and gluons.

The primary key to this structure is that it's being entirely recreated throughout the entire universe every unit of Plank time. If there's a fundamental frequency of the universe, this is it.

The secondary key is that gravitons are averse to all other forms of matter and energy. Due to GEP, as gravitons wink in and out... and back in to existance, if anything else happens to be in the way, either that position will remain unoccupied, or the graviton that would have occupied that position will shift enough to allow both the other particle and the graviton to occupy adjacent spaces.

This causes slight gaps to open up in this framework, gaps which become very important as as it relates to general relativity.

The key issue here is that while this framework is somewhat flexible, it's not as flexible as one might think, and it takes an infinately long distance (number of gravitons) for the framework to return to normal.

This is why gravity acts at infinately long distances.

Yet another key issue is that the adjustment of one particle does not immediately proceed to the other particles. It takes the next cycle of Plank time to affect the adjacent particles, the next cycle to affect the next set, and so on. This is why gravity propogates at the speed of light.

Since the affect of a larger amount of matter has a greater affect on the gravton matrix, it introduces more "holes" within the matrix, thereby increasing the distance between the gravitons more in the vicinity of a planet than distant from that planet.

The final key issue is that the average density of the gravitons affect the local Plank length.

With that, we'll move on to the next entry.
