Did you seek answers to questions and did not have an idea to defend?

Do you, personally, have any reason to believe that Ununpentium has any practical application in anti-gravity?
Aside from the anti-gravity (what is that anyway?) I am just trying to find what pratical purposes does it serve mostly. I am not trying to defend any applications in propulsion. Just wanna know what all the hoopla is about it aside from that claim? Thanks for asking that question too! It is a vital question.
I am not taking and offensive or defensive position on the topic--someone stated that I did, but I never made that claim at all.

Thanks Flyguy! I am sorry if this is getting muddled up on here. Your vote matters to me alot regardless of outcome. Just wish I knew alot more about the purpose of trying to create the 115 in the first place since from what I have gathered other than that Lazar experience. I am sure someone in mainstream science decided to investigate for some reason and they did it and of course moved on to bigger and better things. But I am curious "why" it was created at all since it serves us in no pratical application right now.

Thanks again. And for all who took my post the wrong way I am sorry and it will not happen again. I may have came across as a proponent but that was not my intention at all.

Why was it created? For the same reason as all of the other transuranium elements around it. Basic research in nuclear and particle physics.

Here is my take on the apparent fascination with element 115.

1. It happens to be is the same column as bismuth in the periodic table.

2. Bismuth is diamagnetic, meaning it is repelled by a magnet.

3. Someone with a vivid imagination took a great leap from there to an antigravity idea.

I cannot make it plainer.
And in this poll "yes" or "no" mean what they already meant before the poll.
But you didn't make it clear. All you said was "viable," leaving it to the reader to determine what "viable" meant. That's why your poll could not, by its very nature, get any decent results. This is not picking on you. This is an honest attempt to explain to you the problem with your poll and why you're not getting decent results. Do you understand?

Hey Kudos to all the votes and conversations on here--just want all involved in the process who sat patiently/while I muddled up this poll and for that I will work to remove contaminated post. However-- there is always a however I know right? I am here to learn the best way possible and I am open to all who want to help me perfect a better post. Comments whatever they may be are appreciated--anything constructive is useful. Thanks again for posting or voting, and if I went about the topic wrongly--well I guess that is what the "doh" smiley is for. I know right?

I guess I tried to make the poll too neutral on my part and just alienated the electorate. Thanks. Oh Happy Holidays to all!

Wikipedia: Sockpuppet (Internet)

Quote:
A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception within an Internet community. In its earliest usage, a sockpuppet was a false identity through which a member of an Internet community speaks while pretending not to, like a puppeteer manipulating a hand puppet.
In current usage, the perception of the term has been extended beyond second identities of people who already post in a forum to include other uses of misleading online identities.
Not permitted under BAUT rules. Unwelcome here. I presume you only have one identity here, so you should be OK.

Well okay then--I thought I was being a target of something inappropriate in the chat there.Sorry to get so testy. Ip addresses are good ways to handle it. Well usually it is.

IP is a good first clue, but that's about all it is. Most sock puppet checks go much deeper than that, as IP's can be changed, covered by a proxy etc...

I looked up the links. Wow who has time for that? I cannot keep up on here!!! LOL. Everyone seems to have doctorates on here so I have to go look up everything they say on wikipedia and then read it in layman's terms and then get back to the post to find even more goodies. But that is what I am here to do. Learn! Keep the post coming! I read other forums on here in the other houses. And I am so happy to see how intelligent and defined folks are on here. Great place to be! I have learned more than I ever did sitting in some Sociology and Astronomy lectures! Somehow I wanna ask for my money back in some classes I took. Oh I made a big mistake going to a community college in the beginning though, so I guess I am blessed where I am attending now--I know. Right?

Hornblower,

Do you have a really good website for me to use other then wikipedia, though it is good? I would like to know if you have found any other ones because of all the post you seem the most methodical--honestly.

You can Google just as well as I can. Deciding on the merits of the sites will be an exercise in caveat emptor. For example, if you enter "element 115" you will find a lot of woowoo in addition to legitimate reports by researchers who have succeeded in making the stuff in atom smashers.

Let me preemptively explain this term. In addition to being the sound a large, complication piece of machinery occasionally makes while towing other large, but less complicated pieces of machinery, it's also the sound my dog makes when I clean his ears. Additionally, it's rumored to apply to individuals fairly lacking in sense who maintain they're in the know while most others are in the dark. Occasionally, these people are rounded up for trespassing on various top-secret governmental properties where aliens are being held.

But I digress...

Hilarious!!!!! I really hate trespassers though in any field of endeavor and spies also. We spy they spy and then no body can trust the message that the missiles are being destroyed.

Oh God, isn't that the truth? And the search on anything these days can bring up the "Final frontier sites". I did a search on natural cleaners and it spun off into a bunch beware of the colon cleanse scams and such. Everyone has an anti-site nowadays just depends on your point of view.

Hey I visited the other thread you and Abaddon told me about. The one that is mine? Okay Hey I do admit it is out and there and I like that theory too! Made some post. So I guess it is mine now right? Is that how we do it. We go around and take over threads? Just curious. I was not trying to be silly but my curious nature got the best of me this morning. So I posted to that thread too!

Hey Abaddon,

I checked out the thread this morning and made a post or two, it is a quite interesting topic. So I guess I see the points you are making about the sameness, but even for me some of it is a bit unclear but then again my idea is out there too. Well I made some post on it hope it does not make me look like I am going around taking over threads, but then I visit and refer in on alot of thread. That "martian wood" one is funny? I told Neverfly too!
