I think it's obvious that the contrails are the Zetan equivalent of crop circles. Isn't it a known fact that aliens can navigate the galaxy, but fall apart when they get to smaller distances, hence the crop circles and contrails?

And those red clouds are remnants of PX's swirling moons personas.

Or are they the Fire Dragons of which many prophets speak?
