Oh, yes. She is for real. Really out of her mind.

I exchanged e-mails with her for a brief time, just to see how far her claims went. How far did she go?

I used to hang out with a group of friends among whose members included a particularly strange individual. Every once in a while, usually in the middle of a discussion by the rest of us, Kim would suddenly say something that had nothing remotely to do with what we were talking about. Sometimes righ, sometimes wrong. Always interesting.

The phrase "coming out from left field" didn't quite cover the derailing effect Kim had. We decided as a group to create a new model to describe the far-outishness of his occasional blurbs.

First you have Out of Left Field.
Beyond that is Out of the Ballpark
Past that is Outlandish.
And way, way out in the distance was where Kim was coming from. We dubbed it "The Kim Marker."

Nancy is from just beyond the Kim marker.

Why do you suppose this topic is bringing up ads for something about the Christian movie of the year?

My guess is some ad placement software is triggered by the words "Bible" "endtimes" and "prophecies" in Madcat's sig.

If when you click on the topic to link to look at this and it brings up an ad, then it is spyware on your computer.

Of course. I had not noticed that signature.

I was referring to the ads at the bottom of the thread, not in place of the thread.

I'm just glad it's not bringing up "Alex Chiu's Immortality Device".

I should probably change the sig. It's been a while and it isn't really that funny anyhow.

It's also funny to see the ad for Starburst Candy at the bottom of the page.

Just who is this lady anyway, I just stumbled onto the whole Zeta Talk thing yesterday while on lunch break and was amazed at the whole thing, then I found the Planet X malarkey and really began to chuckle. So if the thing comes down on Diamond Head (I'm in Hawaii) tomorrow, double dumb *** on me, however I'm not exactly heading for the hills. Delusion and confusion are everywhere!!!

The unwrapped Starburst bit is the most compelling, but she also mentions that a pile of magazines was restacked, changing the order and position of the mags, giving her another "sign." These aliens are subtle folks!

Speaking of unwrapped starbursts, I need a new BOWLING BALL, preferably one that brings the 10 pin into the pit on it's way by. Yes the 10 pin cost me another 300 game last week

edited to add...that didn't work, it changed all the ads to telescopes. Why would anyone try to roll a telescope down lane 19?

Although I am not a psychologist I do have a family member who is a schizophrenic and have seen this disorder up close and personal, so to speak. The most common subtype of schizophrenia is paranoid schizophrenia in which the person holds very irrational beliefs usually regarding conspiracies or some type of persecution. They often believe that their thoughts are being influenced by others and that there are "signs" of this conspiracy all around. Some claim to receive messages through the television or through "visions" of various sorts. Mundane objects and certain verbal phrases can seem to hold "secret" meanings as well. My cousin was convinced that the government was spying on him and controlling him via the telephone!

These people are not "stupid" (in fact some are very intelligent, ex John Nash) but they are not functioning in reality and they insist that their delusions are absolutely "real". Now, I have no idea if this Nancy L has this problem but she does seem to exhibit a great many of the symptoms of schizophrenia. Personally, I think that this particular form of mental illness is probably more common than we'd care to admit (the posters wiolawa and MAP also seemed to me to be showing some of the signs of schizophrenia). There are good medications available but the person has to seek help in order to receive help...and many will not do this. To find out more see this link:

I'm not familiar with MAP, but you're right on target RE Nancy and Wio. Unfortunately, folks with this type of affliction rarely seek help on their own. They frequently end up "on the street" after their delusions alienate family and other support systems and they can no longer function alone.

Well, all I'm getting is ads for the Rapture: The Second Coming pen-and-paper RPG, as well as "Freebies for Christians" (probably a bunch of tracts and stuff).

Oh yeah, Starbursts too.

Actually, I think that was the sign she was expecting but didn't get. Then she found the unwrapped Starburst and decided that had to be the sign.

What's that line from Ghostbusters?

"No human being would stack books this way," or something like that.

Or is it some sort of Zetan feng shui?

Well, technically, you need a new six pin. If your ball is taking the ten pin into the pit, on your first shot, I would say you got a bigger problems than needing a new bowling ball.

Don't you hate when that happens. I had three tens, an eight (no not a weak eight) and a nine pin ( solid pocket, the rest of the pins in the pit) stop a 300 before finally getting my first one. I don't count the ten pin I left the first time I had the first eleven. I choked on that one. 8)
