Warwick Davis???? Must be a small part.

IMHO, HHGttG doesn't need a movie. It's had radio, book, TV show, LP, ad nauseam.

I've already seen some pretty awful excerpts from scripts that were written while Mr Adams was alive - I'm not really holding my breath for this one. Who knows what ghastly changes they will make to the story now that he isn't around to play policeman?!

I liked her in Almost Famous, the greatest movie of all time.

Blarg. Mark my words, this movie is going to be awful. The books were great, but they really do not translate into movies...

Yah, which plot will they use? The radio show had a rather different set of plots from the books. And the TV show, well, it didn't get very far and I didn't think it was very good, but it had a rather different plot from the other two.

IIRC, the first radio series and the TV series are very similar. The big difference is that in the radio show, the black ship they steal at Milliway's belongs to a war fleet, and not to Hotblack Desiato.

I would like to see Arthur Dent learning to fly!

To paraphrase because I aint read the book for a while....

"throw your self at the ground but get distracted at the last minute"

Let me save you the trouble though, it does not work! Maybe I'am not getting a big enough distraction.....

I was convinced this was going to be a horrible mistake.

But no! Hammer & Tongs are in charge, so its bound to be brilliant.

*groan*

Actually, he's wearing the Marvin costume. The costume is being fabricated by Henson's Creature Shop, which is doing some of the effects, so at least we can expect to see some very nice animatronics (certainly superior to what the BBC was able to do in the early 80s). It looks nothing like the Marvin from the TV show, or from the picture book that was published a number of years ago. But it's perfect. It's white, with a huge, spherical head that seems to be sagging forward. The arms are slightly oversized as well, lending a dejected air to the robot; they've definintely made use of the shape of Warwick Davis. All in all, despite the smooth, sleek, and largely featureless design, it definintely gives the impression of a sort of resigned acceptance of the general cruelty of life. In other words, it's perfect. ;)

This page (http://www.douglasadams.com/movie/) has a picture of Warwick Davis at a costume fitting. He's obviously not in character, as he is smiling. ;)

A better picture is on this fan-page (http://douglasadams.se/movie/[/url); scroll down to see what Marvin will look like, fully assembled.

Rumor has it that Stephen Moore will perform Marvin's voice. As much as I like Davis and think he's got marvellous skill, I'm not sure anyone other than Moore can do Marvin. He played Marvin on the radio series, and supplied the voice for the TV mini-series.
