Whoo! I got it! man, this game is freakin' awesome. it is really fun to play and all.

and because it is in the No Donut! secion, I will point out the astronomy in it.

The first level, is on an orbital MAC cannon platform, which, if you haven't read the books is a railgun that shoot incredibly massive slugs at the enemy ships which pretty much cripples them.

while you are on the ship, you, and sarge are going to the medal ceremony to hand out awards for the actions in the first game, to Master Cheif, Keyes' daughter (who isn't a big gooey blob, unlike her daddy), and Sargent Johnston( how he is alive after dying, twice, is beyond me), in a part of the level, that is a lot like the opening level to half-life. anyway your ship get boarded, and you, with the other marines have to repel the boarders from the covenant invadors. parts of this level are in space, in a vaccum, but with the stations artificial gravity, to a lesser extent.

in these sections of the level, all the the sounds of your equipment are more muted and are only the low-freq sounds, and it sounds like sound would be when transmitted through a medium like a MJOLINR Mark VI armor, and there is little sound from anything else, out there, beautifilly silent.

well, you find out that a bomb was planted in fire control for the MAC platform, after watching another platform explode from a bomb. I fight your way to fire control, where you defuse it, and then Master Cheif does something that is what the cutscene in the announcement trailer is based off of, he takes the bomb to an empty hangar, open the hangar, and lets the depressurisation carry himself with the bomb to the cruiser nearby, once he gets insid eit, he re-arms the bomb, and then kicks the bomb inside the ship further, and uses the momentum from that to push himself away, before it explodes. 3rd Law in Action.

The books were very good in physics too. I am not surprised at all.

Wish I had an X-Box.

Nuts.

Isn't the main character in Marathon a Mjolnir cyborg?

Has bungie set them in the same universe?

Marathon is the daddy to Halo. Bungie sold out to the micorsoft demon.

Marathon is the daddy to Halo. Bungie sold out to the micorsoft demon.Who then forever handicapped the game by making it a X-box first title then a PC port. Sigh.....

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas....

I'm hoping my wife buys me this, even though I'm still working on Halo, I'm on Two Betrayals chapter right now, so I'm almost done.

My wife is finally understanding the beauty of the first one, we saw the preview for Halo 2 in the movie theatre and she thought it was a movie. I said well if you want that one you have to play the first one, so she's started...now if only she can finish by Dec 25th.

Play co-op with her. Makes it alot easier.

co-op is easier until the last segment. then the other person can either get in the way or get too far behind and run the wrong way and teleport you back to where they are.

and did I mentiion that it's timed?

No need for two warthogs.

Why would you ever use 2 Pumas? That big ol' gun up there is useless without a second.

I would think a former Mod of the RvB forums, and fellow sponsor, would no better than to make a Thread on BA in Halo 2, into a Red vs Blue quote-a-thon.

ps. dirtbags.

Speaking of that. They just released 3 episodes in three days. the last oone is the best, and a prety cool switch to HALO 2 graphics.

one warthog. but when you drive like I do, it tends to flip over. If the other person doesn't get back in soon enough, you have to leave them behind. Time is running.

We got to that part, and it must have taken 10 attempts. On the last one, I made it in with less than 10 seconds left.

I figured out that its best not to wait for the ship to pick you up, since it never does. Just keep moving.

I usually finish that part with about 1:30 to 2:00 left on the clock.

I like the Laser effects in Halo 2, they look real, and bounded by the laws of physics.

And on the level in Halo 2, Cairo Syation, you watch as the covenant start to retreat from another MAC platform, and then you see it explode, and a few seconds later, you station rattles from the shock of the explosion.

Can someone with more physics experience than me tell me if this would happen of not?

This happens in a vacuum? It could happen if the MAC platform is massive and you aren't too far away - the only source of material for a shock wave would be the material of the platform itself. Is this a nuclear explosion? A nuclear bomb in space without surounding mass will have little blast effect, but the x and gamma will cause considerable surface heating in nearby spacecraft - that could cause rattles and worse, but it would happen as soon as you see the flash.

Yes, in Geosynchronous Orbit.

Perhaps it's shrapnel hitting you that causes the rattle? Shrapnel in space would be unpleasant (lots-of-holes-in-the-container-that-keeps-your-air-in kind of unpleasant).

I had a couple of friends beat it playing co-op the day after it was released. they were very disappointed and miffed that it's a setup for a third game

Just remember with the expectations for that game, even if it did finish they would of been dissapointed. No matter what it would of done they would of been dissapointed.

I kind of expected it....I mean after the first one and the number of preorders they had on the second.....there was going to be a third. Trilogies also seem to be oh so popular these days.

I did the same thing, real cliffhanger(but pretty cool).
