what ever happened to Mars Bars?
Is that a rhetorical question? I believe they were discontinued a couple of years ago, to my dismay. They are nowhere to be found on store shelves where I live. They were replaced with the "snickers with almonds" bar.

According to mars.com, Mars bars are still avaliable in the US. And I would expect that they will always and forever be, since they are the flagship product of Mars Inc. Perhaps there's just something wonky going on in your area. Like maybe the vendors have gone insane.

I used Froogle (Google's search engine for purchasing), searched for "Mars bars" and the first hit was "Mars Bars from England" (http://store.yahoo.com/baimp4u-store/marbarfromen.html).
According to candyfavorites.com (http://www.candyfavorites.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=295)
Snickers Almond Bar
Manufactured by M&M / Mars
This great tasting product is the replacement for the classic Mars Bar which was discontinued in 2002

You can still buy Mars in Belgium and the Netherlands as far as I know.
There are many differences between countries. For years you could easily buy Cherry Coke in the Netherlands, though not in Belgium.

:o PEZ (http://www.pez.com/) hasn't been mentioned yet! :o :o
PEZ is the only real candy to eat. You get the really cool dispenser to carry around the candy in and the candy to eat. Although I have to admit even though I have a couple of dispensers, including Darth Vader, I usually just skip that step and eat the PEZ right out of the wrapper.

I've always had a weakness for sour candies. My classic; Sweettarts, followed closely by. . . darn! Suddenly drawing a blank this morning. Anyone remember what those hard coated, multi-colored sour candies are than always sell right next to the big roll of sweettarts at the movie theater? I'll have to edit this once my brain unfreezes this morning. . .
anyways, loved 'em both since I was a kid, and still have a bag at the ready in my desk right now at age 39 (along with a bag of star bursts for when I need something chewy!).

Unless one owns a mechanical pez dispenser, I've got this neat Marvin the Martian with his rocket dispenser. Push a button and he scoops PEZ out of the rocket. I agree with the eating PEZ from the wrapper, these types of dispensers are just too bulky to carry around. :-?
Oooh edit to add: there were also these candies that would start popping around in your mouth and then the pop flavoured ones bottlecaps I think they were called.

Nope. Not skittles Candy, although I like those as well. these are hard and flat, with a non-sour candy coating. You have to get thru that before you hit the sour stuff. They've been around for decades. As I said, you most times see them being sold right next to the rolls of sweettarts at the theater. . . It'll come to me eventually!
