Looks like Canada has finally decided on a trade war (http://www.canada.com/national/story.html?id=c69358b8-aeae-446d-adbb-9615223e89c5) with US over softwood lumber.

I recall quite a few years ago the US decided to impose some punitive tarriff on imported Canadian wood. The Canadians responded with an import duty on US plywood. The US was importing the wood to make the plywood. They figured it out pretty quickly.
