I've noticed a curious absence of his name, appearances etc. on tv. Is it my imagination? Is he having more health problems?

Is Dick Cheney dead, yet? (http://www.isdickcheneydeadyet.com/) Here’s the answer to the question you seek.

Cheney has been recognized as a political liability. Doesn't have the charisma to keep the coalition of the wealthy and destitute together for another run. (Hard to believe he actually makes Bush look "charming"). He's been pulled behind the curtain for Act II. Grooming for 2008 has begun, and Cheney has not been offered a visit to the party's salon. My guess is they may do something drastic to really take the wind out of the Democrat's sail - like run a woman.

How about Rice v. Clinton? Could we really go from a woman never having a chance to a race between two women?

Woman on woman...sounds like one of those ads you get down at the bottom of the screen when the BABB subject is, for instance, alternative lifestyles. :D

That's still a woman against a man.

Hillary - not Mr. Bill. (Oh nooooooooooooooooooooo!). Could that already belong in the getting old thread?

Hey, maybe SNL will get funny again. With Bush it is too much like the 3 Stooges - all visual and slapstick; funny blank stares, mispronounced words, etc.

With someone new, it stands a chance we might get a more cerebral brand of comedy.

The antecedent of "she" was "Hillary"! :D

Perhaps she would be a good prez, since she would probably support the space program, more than likely being somewhat aroused by all those strap-on boosters...

It really would be interesting to be around for the 1st female Prez. Wonder what kind of subtle changes we'd see. More male interns, and they are required to wear tight pants. Less Karl Rowe, more Martha Stewart. Less Greenspan, more Winfrey. Free gifts under everybody's chair at cabinet meetings. Pastel colored limos. Male reporters allowed into the locker rooms of female athletes. Dr. Phil gets appointed to the Supreme Court. And yes, a huge surge in the popularity of strap-on boosters.

Not wanting to get into a political debat here, but here in the UK we had a female PM. Let's just say she wasnt the soft hearted fluffy stereotype people seem to imagine when talking about a female president. 8-[

Pick your leaders on their ability not on their gender or media backing.

SRB may have something to do with the Strap-on Boosters. 8-[

[SRB = Solid Rocket Boosters - which usually are strap-ons]

Wonders why it is when a strong female leader comes on the world stage, everybody acts like it's some sexual thing?

I'm not sure that qualifies as a strap on booster, since it's just a plain old gravity nuc. Although I'm sure TJ would have rode one.

I can see the Democratic ticket for '08 already, Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno.

Congratulations, gentlemen. :)

I have to admit, Condoleeza Rice would throw the whole mix for a loop. Not only a woman, but black, too. Race may not be as powerful a card as it was in the old days, but cripes, she could nix the Democratic power of NOW, NAACP, Congressional Black Caucus, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in one fell swoop. The Republicans would still follow her because she's got sharper claws than Colin Powell ended up having.

And Amadeus makes a great point. Look at the career of Margaret Thatcher. "Tough broad" barely scratches the surface of her character, and the British Parliament can make the American Congress look like a Boston Tea Party.

Yes, they (GOP leaders) would be foolish to not be seriously considering Rice. She would take so much of the fuel away from the anti-Republicans on so many fronts. She has got to be near the top of the short list for the time being, and should stay there as long as she doesn't get involved in some scandal or another.

So who is her running mate?

It tells you how bad things have gotten in politics when someone like Rice, whose personality is a cross between a very annoying schoolmarm and a guard in a 40's women's prison movie, is considered a candidate for anything.

Unless, of course, you LIKE being Told What To Do. Or Else You Will Be Chastised.

And why is it that tough-minded women get referred to as "gentlemen" here?

Double standard, anyone?
