How lame of an insult is "4 eyes"?

This never ceases to amaze me that people in this day and age still think of the term "4 eyes" as being an insult. Get a grip...I wear glasses so what?

When I was growing up, I always wished I could wear glasses.....
Now that I'm an adult, and I need them for driving, movies, and other things, I hate wearing them! Sigh...the grass is always greener.

(I also always wished I'd break and arm or a leg so I could wear a cast. The most I've broken is a few toes, and that's plenty for me!)

I think glasses are more fashionable these days now that strong, durable but light frames and lens have come about.

Very childish it is. But come to think of it, I can't remember ever hearing an adult use it. Did an adult call you 4-eyes and really mean it as an insult? When I first saw the term in the thread it immediately made me think of The Three Stooges.

I think wearing glasses are rather sexy. Just look at kucharek's photo. :D

Even though I don't wear prescription glasses, I do buy tinted glasses to wear on a daily basis (not sunglasses). The colors are rose, yellow, and blue.

I know what you mean. "Four-eyes" has just about the same impact as "up your nose with a rubber hose" but without the biting wit.

I've been called "four eyes", but not in a long time. In our expletive laden culture, it's now a quaint insult.

If it really bothers you, give them a real insult.
My favorite- "The best part of you dribbled down your mothers leg."
