A Darth Vader impersonator was fined by police for not wearing a seatbelt.

Chris Gedge from Old Stratford, Northants, was driving to a promotions job in the fancy dress when he was stopped by police on the M1.

He has two of his friends dressed in Stormtrooper outfits in the back of the car reports The Sun.

He said: "The police pulled me over and asked me who I was. I told them I was the Dark Lord of the Sith. I'm sure they had a good laugh back at the station, saying they'd just done Darth Vader for not wearing a seatbelt

It's the mental image that story creates that really amuses me - especially of the two stormtroopers in the back.

He should have tried the old "I don't need to wear my seatbelt" Jedi mind-trick.

He should have tried the old "I don't need to wear my seatbelt" Jedi mind-trick.
I did read a tale in another forum of someone, not in costume, being stopped for some carelessness and his passenger turned the lecture with, "You don't need to see his identification."

The cop must have been a Star Wars fan. After running through the exchange of dialog, he skipped the ticket and just told them to move along.

There's a joke about The (police) Force to be made somewhere, but I'm too tired to root it out right now.

just point to your car and say "no need to wear seatbelts inhere; the force is strong in this one".

address a "may the force be with you, you'll need it" to the police man, and hit the gas pedal.

Use your rights as a member of the Galactic Empire:
"I'm sorry, officer, but I got to go. I have the right to relocate within the Empire, to prescribed destinations. Nothing about seatbelts is mentioned though."

Very gutsy move. In such a situation, one would have to be wondering what would happen to their license if the cop was not a fan!!

I got out of a ticket because of star wars. I was stopped in 99 I think for speeding. I told him that I was just visiting the town and didn't notice the change in speed limits, but I don't get back too often but I was in town to take my mom to see the Phantom Menace because she took me to see Star Wars when I was little and what did you think of the whole new take on Annakin Skywalker, officer?

So he told me his opinion of the new movie, smiled, then told me to be more observant of the speed limit and let me go.
