I think it depends on whether you wish to go for Bad Post Doc or whether you wish to drop 555 and start afresh with something different - maybe on the Scotson theme of your website.

I pay attention to people's registration dates. The people who all signed up in October 2001 all seem to have come from the older board someone here once linked to. Some of those people may never post in word association or make lots of pithy comments, but they've obviously been around for a longggg time, and I can respect that. Mickal, I would keep it if I were you; people are probably so used to calling you that, you know, like an old familiar sock. :wink: :D

Basically like I explained above. People can notify other posters of the change in a post, but some don't read every thread so they may miss the notice of change. I did with yours. I knew your writting style was the same, but I didn't know you had changed your nic. No big deal, just took someone to finally point it out to me to let me know. :)

Another vote for no. I second that name changes are confusing. It's not like post count really means anything anyway as they aren't a measure of the value you bring to the board. I've got a patenetly stupid username but as I've been smallfluffykat for a while in my online stuff I'm kind of attached to it even if it is embarrassing (my IMechE username is smallfluffykat!).

Plus, by keeping your Mickal555 name I can track your online shenanigans for years into the future.....bwah hah hah haaaaaa! [/evil genius laugh]

No. A few username changes are okay, but when it gets too much, one looses track. And until now, so many honourable members of the BABB have ignored the kilopi-limit that it cannot any longer be considered an inappropriate thing to do. Better to improve ones personality than ones username.
