Hey All. I was wondering if y'all could help me with a project. I want to create one of those inspiration posters w/ quotes 'n' stuff on them, but I want this one to focus on the Geek Side of the Force. So, if you have great quotes from Films, Comics, T.V., etc. let me have them. I only ask that you include the source, they be usable out of context (i.e. they mean something even if you don't know the source material), and they are somewhat positive (I'm going for low sarcasm here).
What I'll do is update this top post periodicly with the quotes you come up with, so we should have a running list of ones that have been included so far.
The quotes:
"Do or Do Not. There is no Try"- Master Yoda, Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back
"Est Sularis Oth Mithas (My Honor is my Life)" Oath of the Knights of Solamnia, Dragonlance Saga
"Understanding is a Three-Edged Sword. Your Side. Their Side. And the Truth"- John Sheridan, Babylon 5
"With great power comes great responsibility"- Uncle Ben, Spiderman
"Honor is a gift you give to yourself"- Rob Roy, Rob Roy
"Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."- Gandalf the Grey, The Lord of the Rings (thanks Lord Jubjub)
"Don't Panic"- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (thanks Moose)

Please feel free to point out all typos. I'll fix those when I'm doing an update.
Thanks.

Maybe I should have my Geeklub membership revoked, but... What's so geeky about Rob Roy?

In the circles I run in, quoteing from a movie that came out some 10 odd years ago and that nobody "normal" even remembers qualifies you as a geek.
Plus, I really like the quote and it is my list :D

Just about the first thing that sprang to mind:
"Deserves [death]! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends." --- Gandalf, The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

 I actually understand this one.... (ok, I remember the term "embleer rah" but I don't know what it means, but I do know exactly what "Silflay hraka" means!!!! Was that exact phrase ever used in the book? I know I used it with my friends in highschool.)

Actually that was Arthur,

in response to the attack of the killer rrrrrabbit.

(clean American version)
It's a catch-phrase for Arthur throughout the movie.

Absolutely. Bigwig says it to taunt Woundwort during his attack on the burrow.
"Embleer" means "stinking". "Rah" means "prince" or "leader", or "Lord" as an honorific. Remember "Hazel-rah" and El-ahrairah?
I was impressed by the way Adams gave you enough understanding of the Lapine language that by the time you got to the climactic scenes, he didn't have to translate Bigwig's taunt. It was one of the many "Wow!" moments in Watership Down.

"Don't panic." - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
"Trust yourself. Trust Ivanova. Anyone else: shoot 'em." - Commander Ivanova - Babylon 5
"Sometimes you just hafta take what life gives you. 'Cause life is like a mop, and sometimes life gets full of dirt and crud and bugs and hairballs and stuff. Well, you, you gotta clean it out! You gotta put it in here and rinse it off and start all over again. And sometimes life sticks to the floor so bad that a mop is not good enough, a mop isn't good enough. You gotta get down there with a, with a toothbrush ya know! You gotta scrub, you gotta get it all off, you gotta really try to get it all off. And if that doesn't work, you can't give up! You gotta stand right up, run to the window and say: "Hey! The floors are dirty as hell, and I'm not gonna take this anymore!!" - Stanley Spadowski - UHF

Moose has inspired me:
"Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. And if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out. Babylon Control out."
"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. What? Look, somebody's gotta have some [darned] perspective around here. Boom. Sooner or later. BOOM!"
Susan has the best quotes. Zathras is a very close second, but, well, see the first quote. :)

Thanks. Good memories. I have a copy of that book, I'll have to re-read it. It's been about 15 years.
Kristophe, I love your quote, too!

Does it have to be from 'the major media'? I mean, I have a triple boatload I've collected from the web...some here, some elsewhere...

"Trust me, I know what I'm doing." -Sledge Hammer, Sledge Hammer!
From a documentary on Sledge Hammer! found in the extras section on the last DVD of the first season, David Rasche commented [paraphrased]: "I mean, Sledge isn't your ordinary gun nut. It's not like he went around with an arsenel. *chuckles* He was monogamous!"
Sweet.
