Fascinating stuff if confirmed. The origins of history are being pushed further back by archaeology. Just because Ancient peoples didn't leave written records doesn't mean they were ignorant or backward. I would like to see more about contextural use of the buildings. It's a lot of work to suport a purely religious institution and there must have been some practical use for these buildings. (Not contempory, but I'm thinking along the lines of Tythe barns used in the Middle Ages or somesuch)

...The most complex excavated so far---located inside the city of Dresden---consisted of an apparently sacred internal space surrounded by two palisades, three earthen banks and four ditches...
Found no pics, but the Tarxien Temples (http://images.google.com/images?q=tarxien%20temples&hl=en&lr=&sa=N&tab=wi) of Malta (http://164.109.173.140/OL_shorex/gvoyages_eur/tour_valletta.htm) may suggest some possibilities:
"...Dating from about 3300 to 2500 BC, the last phase of the Stone Age...one of the best-preserved examples of the Neolithic stone temples to be found on Malta..."

Very interesting.
Archaeologist have a tendency though, to lump everything they
don't understand under the label Cultist.

Their civilisation seems to have died out after about 200 years and the recent archaeological discoveries are so new that the temple building culture does not even have a name yet.
So - let's name it!
I suggest The Chocolate Bavarians.

Well, some of the ruins were apparently found in Germany. That would explain their obsession, and I might add wonderful, chocolate.

4600BC?
it's perfectly clear that they started with "Cerimonial Burial" as an advance.
Probably got wiped out by barbarians from a nearby "Goodie hut", though.

It's a shame they didn't... that was so long ago, that they wouldn't even have been speaking an Indo-European language. Proto-IE was still being spoken in western Asia and hadn't spread out into its many branches yet. Any kind of linguistic records from a civilization that old would be extremely useful. :D
