The "Onion in History" front pages were made up long after the fact (note the Planet of the Apes jokes) but they're riotously funny. I have the book (Our Dumb Century).

Oh come on! Prove they're not historical documents. Obviously the sections that are correct about future events are due to the reporter tuning into the collective unconscious aided by his natal horoscope.

Can you prove it didn't happen? 8)

Couldn't resist a review of some classic Onion headlines:

<> Neighbors Confront Alcoholic Child-Abuser About His Lawn
<> Employee Of The Month Sad It's Already The 19th
<> White Sprinter Finishes Fifth
<> New Starbucks Opens In Restroom Of Existing Starbucks

And #6 from the list of Top-Selling Romance Novels:

The Millionaire International Playboy Who Married A Fat, Undersexed Housewife He Met In The Checkout Line At ShopKo

Sometimes I think you can tell more about what is REALLY going on in the world by reading the Onion than anything else.

they had an article a few years ago about the SCA taking over Russia. this was forwarded around SCA circles for years (I was sent it recently), and the consensus was, "yeah, we could probably do that."
