i have just started getting interested in astronomy. I happen to have a lot of old satellite dishes and i was wondering if anybody might think of something useful i can do with them.
Thank you

Set up your own version of SETI! Might take a bit of work to get the whole thing set-up though! ;)

I don't know about useful, but I found a few other than the obvious signal boosters, wi-fi, etc.
Garden Ponds (http://www.habiscapes.biz/Do-it-yourselfers.htm)
Bird baths (http://www.ruralnorthwest.com/fishing/articles/birdbath.htm)
Solar stoves (http://solarcooking.org/newsletters/scrnov01.htm)
movie props (http://www.enchantedcastlestudios.com/Products/sci-fi.htm)
I even ran across a children's museum using 2 of them to create some sort of whisper chamber.

Depending on their type and condition, I would suggest you try your hand at some stir fry cooking with one
