Construction of Telescopes

Has anyone any advice on the construction of a telescope?
I have just bought a book on making of telescopes. I wont be grinding the lens as if I do that.I will be building it till old age ! At the moment I have a 4.5" Reflector Celestron , and I hope to build a 6" or even go as far as an 8". I live in a large city , and I do not get out to the dark skys of the country, so I cant really use it to its full potential.

They have some decent general designs for building your own telescopes. They also have links to places to buy your mirrors, focusers, spider etc...
