AstroView 120ST EQ Refractor does anyone have an opinion on this scope? I like the price under 500.00 but if It can't perform. Thanks for the help in advance

I dont know the scope but before you buy a scope for astrophotography you should check out how good the mount and tracking is.
Almost more important than the actual optical tube assembly. Actually I take that back. Its just as important as the optical tube assembly

Hey Dan,
I haven't used the Astroview 120's yet, but I have an Orion Apex/StarMax 127mm and I have to say I'm -very- impressed with the quality of Orion products (as well as their service!). If the Astroview's are anything like the StarMax's, I think you'll be pretty happy. The Astroviews arn't "apo's" so you are lible to run into so issues with color aberations, but unless your willing to go the extra money for a good apochromatic, this is something that you'll probably just have to deal with. I will say this though...compaired with blowing $10,000 for a Takahashi, if your just getting started, you'll probably love the Astroview for the price! Again, I've been -very- please with Orion products and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone :).
Bright Blessings,
Jim
