I've been following AR 10652 recently using my Celestron C4.5 Newtonian with Mylar filter, a Baader solar filtered 7x50 Celestron Ultima binocular, and polymer solar eclipse shades. This sunspot is not as impressive as AR 10649, which is exiting the limb, but nevertheless it is easily visible without optical aid.

I do from time to time but astrophotography and imaging can be very time consuming, not to mention frustrating and expensive. Serious astrophotographers think nothing of spending thousands of dollars on their mounts alone.
