when and why did the old dall-kirks become 'mewlon's'?

Mewlon is simply Takahashi's trade name for their line of Dall-Kirkham and Dilworth Cassegrains. (The 300mm is a Dilworth variant.) A D-K Cassegrain is easier to make than any other type of non-catadioptric Cassegrain but has more coma than a classical Cassegrain. According to what a number of owners have reported, its field is probably flatter and sharper than a Schmidt-Cassegrain, but not as good as that of a Ritchey-Chretien Cassegrain.

thank you---Coulter used to sell the optics dirt cheap---users had problems keeping them aligned, he gave up.
