The Sun has just vanished below my horizon, here in the UK it is nearly 6.00 p.m. but I have just been watching the most wonderful prominence or maybe group of...
These are huge, bright and showing so much intricate detail :D
Ok, you might say "Pah Gneiss, we see that all the time" but I'll chance it!
Has to be worth a look don't you think?
If you do, please let me know what you think….
Is it a B) or a  ?

Horrible fog here at the moment, and the sun is on the other side of the earth... but if i can remember tomorrow and can find my filter I'll have a look!

Despite the rest of the country apparently basking in sunshine we have been completely greyed out today :(

I had a look at the Sun with my PST on Thursday and Friday in the early afternoon. A long filament and a couple of sunspots were visible but the prominences on the trailing limb were especially noteworthy.

I've been charting the Sun spots with my ETX90EC using a white filter. We have had nothing but clouds since the 18th..Out of curiosity, how much did you spend on your PST, including the H alpha filter, Dave? I'd sure like to pick up those prominences while keeping my wallet healthy.

The Coronado PST is a dedicated 40mm f/10 H-alpha telescope that costs about $499. The etalon filter, which is only 22mm in size, is an integral part of the unit.
A stand alone 40mm Coronado Solar Max 40 H-alph filter costs about $1099.

Dave.
Did you pick up the 18 mm eye piece they offer for just $100 more?
What type of tripod do you use? Or, did you stick with the table top legs?

I own a number of different tripods, mounts, and head units. My PST is mounted on a Bogen 3011 tripod and an alt-azimuth mount. I'm not at home currently and forget the number of the mount.
My PST came with a 12mm CEMAX. Lucky me! I haven't really seen all that much difference between the CEMAX and a 11m Tele Vue Ploessl, a 12.5mm Edscorp orthoscopic, and a 13mm Tele Vue Nagler Type 6 other than differences in the fields of view.
The eyepiece that I use most often with my PST is an 8-24mm Vixen LV zoom, mostly because of the convenience factor.
