The May 2005 issue of Sky & Telescope features a preview of the new Meade RCX400 line by senior editor Dennis di Cicco. Whatever the merits of this design may be, it is interesting to note that he brings up the controversy surrounding the RCX400. Here's a direct quote:
"Some people, including several highly respected optical designers, have taken issue with Meade associating the Ritchey-Chretien name with its new scopes. While these designers note that the RCX400's optical configuration can achieve the coma-free performance of the the RC design, they argue that it is so markedly different from the configuration specified by Ritchey that it shouldn't invoke his name."
