By the end of the week im getting a celestron C8-N advanced series scope. Aperture 8", Focal lenght is1000mm f/5. Comes on a CG-5 mount and a great tri pod. This will be a big step up from my 76gt celestron. what do you all think about this scope?.

This is my scope. I have had it since late January. I am very happy with this scope and am glad I chose it.
BTW Phil Harrington did a review of this scope in "Astronomy" magazine and wrote that he was particularly impressed by the optics.
Downside? It's big and bulky and not easy to take to a dark site unless you have a big vehicle.
Its also just a little awkward to handle because of bulk. But that is only a quibble.
Congratulations on your new scope, I'm sure you will be happy with this choice.
Do join the yahoo group for the Celestron AS series, there's lots of good information and tips available from the people there
