(If the answer is "yes" don't answer that :P :D  )
There was only mild psycological damage and emotional scarring, nothing too serious. :)

Hey, Gamer I can take a joke! Of course I know this is just for fun (if I was offended I'd either use the  emoticon or send you a PM full of abuse)

And the psycological damage really was very mild... :P

Gamer, have you considered whether your tendency to write in speed-writingese and to be very careless with your spelling also indicates lack of discipline in your thinking in addition to increasing the tendency in some of us, namely me, to ignore what you have to say as a way of avoiding reading torture?

Mr. Smartypants gamer guy
19-August-2005, 04:20 PM
um gourdhead just so you kno ive been told that already and im workin on it so if you need to think your not alone in critisiceing me check here check out these critueces -> how everyone feels the same about my writing (http://www.universetoday.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8059) and just so you kno i dont care any more if you dont like it then too bad your missing out so if you think it is that bad just ignore it and dont say anything and i wont tell you how stupid your name is ok?

When your love for truth and its accurate comunication to your colleagues matures sufficiently, you'll realize I was trying to be helpful. Ambiguity in the usage of words and phrases as well as misspelling can be a strong detriment to accurate communication; sometimes more strong than easily falsifiable theories. Also it increases the difficulties imposed on each reader to decipher what is meant. Would it not be more productive as well as efficient for the writer to do a little more work to prepare more easily read inputs?

Please note that I only asked a question; I made no accusation.

Would you care to elaborate on how any word, much less any name, can of itself be stupid?

well gourdy im sorry if i "missinterpretted" the meaning of ur post but to me it was an insult not a question or maybe i was hoping to be welcomed back without any critisism since i blew up in a few peoples faces but thx again for making me feel insulted even though u didnt mean to i wonder how many people feel that way? (extreme sarcasm!!!)

Can you detect the philosophical equivalence in a judgmental context between impuning others motives and automatically assuming the guilt of each accused of any crime? Can you imagine experiencing a larger degree of contentment and happiness by assuming those who express differences of opinions with yours not only mean you no harm but on occasion are trying to enrich your ability to gain understanding?

:D you ARE teasing him! > :o <

SGG, what Gourdy is trying to convey (in his own inimitable style <_< ) is that he likes you, but he also likes messin' witcha! :D

You get points in my book for even trying. English is evidently not your primary language, and is hard enough to learn for those of us who have used it our whole lives.

kudos for the encouragement, Planetwatcher, but judging from SGG's structure and idioms, English is his first language... spelling, grammar and syntax will improve as SGG continues writing and joining in the discussions... ;)

We are not all blessed with language divine... unable to wax lyrical... to make poetry of simple conversation... to pen immortal and profound thoughts ... to paint intricate images with nought but the words and letters of Shakespeare... and Chaucer ... and Gourdy

PS. Calm down, SGG - we're on your side... <_<

... cran u patronize me... and it hardly seems that way but yess i kno you are although im not sure about some of them...

cran

No mate, I don't... I have three younger brothers, and they all have troubles with their spelling and writing ... but they also have very good ideas and thoughts ... and so I find it is worth the effort to figure out the meaning of what you are saying, rather than getting stuck on how you say it :)

I was also a youth worker and counsellor >many years ago< and I met many many young people who have language and writing styles very similar to yours... my challenge is to understand some of the 'shorthand' or what we used to call 'jargon' because meanings can change over time, as well as from place to place... so, you might use a word which means one thing to you, and something else to someone in Liverpool, or Mumbai, or Melbourne...

I wasn't trying to patronise you... I'm sorry if it seemed that way ... but I was having a 'dig' at Gourdy...

:o Was that out burst really necessary?... "have a nice day!" was a nice touch though ;) :D And remember that what ever you put out here is open to many forms of interpretation and it may not be taken as you intended so try to see things from different angles m'kay ;) :D (did that make sense? oh, and I realise that sounded really preachy :P )

Ps. if you've got any residual anger please don't reply to this, getting blasted makes me cry :( :P

Alright we've welcomed back Mr. Smartypants Gamer Guy and then somehow things turned nasty. So this is closed.

Now since this seems to have stemmed from spelling or writing ability then if anyone wants a free spellchecker for when writing on any form on the web please check out the Google toolbar for IE (http://toolbar.google.com/index_2) or the Google toolbar for FireFox. (http://toolbar.google.com/firefox/index.html)

Its a neat toolbar that checks all the spelling in a form, which is coincidently what UT (and all other forums) uses for one to enter your post.
