In many science-based magazines like Astronomy, Discovery, Scientific American, etc., I often notice series of DVD lectures that you can buy on subjects like astronomy, chemistry, calculus, and other topics.
My question is, are these anything I should bother with for learning or are they just a waste of time? They seem intriguing, but I would rather ask before spendig hundreds of dollars on potential junk.
