Hey Slotdrag:

I am not sure if you used a moon filter, that helps cutting glare when taking full moon pictures

Anyway I took your picture and played around with it for 10 minutes or so in Photoshop -I am no photoshop expert, but just to see what additional digital information there was in your picture..

see if you like this processed version of your original

yea...no doubt! The weather is typically screwy here in Ohio to begin with, but it's been really bad for the most part the last few months. Lately I've been happy when I can get an hour or two of viewing time in let alone work with the camera's at all. On the other hand, there's an old saying here in Ohio that all the weather forecasters are fond of quoting..."don't like the weather here in Ohio? Hang around for 10 minutes...it'll change" LOL! I guess there's a good reason there's no sizable observatories in this state. Between the light pollution up North here and the weather...oye!

Anyways, if ya need any help or have any questions, we seem to be doing things in a pretty similar fasion (it just takes time and a lot of patience) so please feel free to ask! I seem to be getting some pretty decent results and I'm fairly expeirienced with PhotoShop and other photo manipulating utilities. I'm gonna be trying some 35mm astro stuff in the next couple of weeks here (actually got started last night, but...you guessed it...clouds rolled in!) and now that I got the new scope, I'm going to re-try my attempts with a webcam as well. We'll see how it goes!

Again good luck to you!
Bright Blessings,
Jim

That's a pretty sweet photo Jim! Any idea what's in the background there? Venus? a star? a dead pixel?

Hey Josh,
I think it's a dead pixel on the camera unfortunatly...shows up on all my night shots. It's a cheapy point & shoot digital camera so I'm not terribly suprised and considering how many times it's been dropped or knocked off the table and such, I'm actually kind of suprised that it still works at all....someday it will be replaced with one of those Canon digital SLR's, but I have to wait until the price comes down (-way- down). Either that or I may end up picking up an SAC or something just for the astro work when I can afford it. The little "star" does make a nice effect thought doesn't it? That's kind of why I never bothered to clean it out of the pic in Photoshop, LOL!

Bright Blessings,
Jim
