View Full Version : M17 and M22 Imaged with an ETX 70

Here are images of a couple of deep space objects imaged with an ETX 70 and an Atik 1c modified webcam
15 second exposures, and a number of frames stacked in registax and then processed in photoshop.
a clear night without wind helped :)
here's M22 second only to M13 as far as Northern hemisphere observers are concerned

and here's M17 the Swan or some people call it the Omega
..Swan I can see, but Omega??? :rolleyes:

and the bloated star in the top right corner of swan image is something I need to work on and find a way to fix in future

These are excellent pictures- I can hardly believe they were taken with the a small telescope like the ETX-70! How did you take them- with the webcam up to the eyepiece? Did you have the autoguiding on?

No autoguiding,this is an out of the box ETX 70 in alt azimuth
the webcam replaces the eyepiece for this type of image capture
take as many frames as possible and then stack them and process in photoshop...

Yup, that's the one.
This is the entry level camera very easy to use-plug and play really, and quite competitively priced, at least when I purchased it early this year.
